TW-ACUSTIC TURNTABLES - GERMAN ENGINEERING & CRAFTSMANSHIP
TW-ACUSTIC - GERMAN ENGINEERING & CRAFTSMANSHIP

GERMAN ENGINEERING & CRAFTSMANSHIP

TW-ACUSTIC set the highest standards and tightest tolerances for turntable and tonearm manufacture, at a level of craftsmanship no longer commonplace even in Germany.

All milled or turned parts are precision CNC’d exclusively in Germany. For quality control reasons they refuse to automate everything.

A philosophy of “Man and Machine” is applied with every part subject to constant quality control with tolerances under 1/100mm. Platters are measured against tolerance specs before delivery. Bearings are checked after a 48 hour run-in period, and only faultless bearings used.

TW-ACUSTIC RAVEN GT

RAVEN GT TURNTABLE

from NZ$10,990 (excl. arm)

DESCRIPTION

The newly-developed Raven GT is not simply there to fill the gap between our base model the Raven One and the classic Raven AC. It incorporates the knowledge and experience that we have made over the years. The primary aim was to be able to offer a compact turntable which could run two tonearms without any sonic compromise for a reasonable price.

The basic shape is similar to the Raven One. However, unlike the Raven One, the 22kg chassis of the GT is made from black anodized Aluminium, and due to its shape is considerably more compact and takes up little more space than a 12″ LP. The ability to attach two tonearms was the basis for the design. We have dispensed with the elaborate alteration involving a separate motor housing which was the case with the Raven One. The GT’s motor is located directly in the chassis, right behind the 6kg platter, so that the distance between the platter and motor pulley is kept to an absolute minimum. This allows the use of an extremely short belt which makes contact with almost the entire circumference of the platter. This allows us to attain wow and flutter values of 0.02%, almost unheard of with belt drive turntables and normally only associated with the very best of recent Japanese direct drive turntables.

RAVEN TONEARM 10.5

RAVEN TONEARM 10.5

NZ$6,590

DESCRIPTION

The arm was created in collaboration with the civil engineer Michael Wiedemann Dipl. Ing, who for several years has applied himself to the science of tonearm construction. The result is an arm that truly reflects the same philosophy as TW ACUSTIC turntables: simplicity and user-friendliness.

From the very beginning, it was established that the concept would be a straight, pivoted-type arm. The rigorously selected precision bearings are ultra-precisely adjusted during the production process in order to eliminate any interference in the pick-up process through stiction. To keep effective mass to a minimum, the tonearm is predominantly constructed from a special black-anodized aluminium alloy which intrinsically ensures the necessary stiffness and torsional strength. The effective mass is approximately 14g, which allows partnering with the majority of currently available MC and MM cartridges. This universal compatibility is further underlined by the inclusion of three different polished stainless steel counterweights as standard, allowing any cartridge with an operating weight of between 5g and 20g to be perfectly counterbalanced.

TW-ACUSTIC RAVEN AC ANNIVERSARY

RAVEN AC

from NZ$17,990 (excl. arm)

DESCRIPTION

We have taken the exceptional properties of copper, and in conjunction with our special polymer, we have developed a compound platter. The musical reproduction benefits from breathtaking soundstage and stereo depth, the representation of the instruments gain substance. The whole sound characteristic becomes clearer and more relaxed.

The AC version of the Raven has a modified motor control. The arm board is made from bronze as standard. Feet: three, ceramic bead blasted and silk matt black anodized aluminium, designed and built by TW ACUSTIC featuring ball and spring suspension. A significant update is the provision of a new motor control unit.

We have taken the advantages of our unique drive system to the limit and have developed a three-motor drive for the Raven One and Raven AC. We have achieved perfect synchronicity between all three motors with our new, highly developed motor control system. The extremely precisely machined drive belt, coupled with finely toleranced and matched pulleys give the concept the optimal basis for the precision we demand.
